Rivals250 DT takes ND unofficial

Rivals250 prospect Jason Kates out of Harrisburg (Pa.) Bishop McDevitt took an unofficial visit to Notre Dame this past weekend to witness Michigan State's upset of the Irish. What did the 6-foot-2, 324-pounder think of the game?
"It was a nice game and there were a lot of people there," he said. "They could have pulled it out, but things happen like that sometimes. I think everybody on their team could have played a little bit better and they should have had it, but there were a lot of mistakes and they weren't ready I don't think. Other than them not winning, everything went well on the visit.

"I got to talk to all the coaches including Latina and Oliver. I talked with coach Oliver about everything from the Florida-Tennessee game to life, school, Notre Dame and all that stuff."
Rumor continues to swirl that Kates is very close to committing to Notre Dame. Is there any truth to the rumors?
"I don't know, I'm just up there to go watch a game and have a good time," he said. "I'm going to play every game of the season before I make a decision."
The No. 14 defensive tackle in the country has yet to schedule an official visit.
"I'm not really looking to do any of them during the season."
The four-star prospect has helped Bishop McDevitt to a 3-0 start.
"We keep blowing out the competition and I only get to play a quarter or so," he said. "Last week we won 39-7 and I had a sack and a couple tackles. I understand that they want to get the young guys to play, but I'm worried about this week."
This week Kates and his teammates battle cross-town rival Harrisburg.
