Rivals250 DT takes in VT-MD game

Rivals250 defensive tackle Phillip Taylor out of Clinton (Md.) Gwynn Park has narrowed his list to five teams including Florida, Maryland, Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Last week the 6-foot-3, 346-pounder witnessed Virginia Tech beat Maryland 28-9 as he was in attendance. What did Taylor think of both teams on his unofficial visit?
"I thought it was a good game on both sides of the ball," he said. "Maryland played great in the first three quarters, but then they made a lot of mistakes that Virginia Tech capitalized on. Virginia Tech on the other hand did well the whole game. I thought it was a good game to go to. It didn't really affect my recruiting that much though."
Taylor confirmed he still has not considered official visits as he wants to focus on his senior season.
The four-star prospect has helped Gwynn Park to an impressive 7-0 record.
"This team we have is much more together as we've all been playing for four or five years, many of us have even played together before high school," he said. "We've always been right at the door to go to state, but haven't gotten there. I think we have another shot this year.
