Rivals250 DT down to three, decision coming

Rivals250 defensive tackle Masengo Kabongo out of Fairfield (Conn.) Fairfield College Prep School has narrowed his list of favorites to three. The 6-foot-3, 279-pounder will take one more visit later this month before making a decision.
"Right now I'm just relaxing and enjoying my summer," he said. "On July 20th, I'm going to head down to Florida. That's the only visit I'm going to take this summer.

"I'm going to camp there. I've heard a lot about the place and want to go see it for myself to see what it's like. I just hope the coaches are good guys and people I can trust. They've also informed me that they'll offer when I get down there."
How big is that potential offer from the Gators?
"It is to a certain extent," he said. "They were only national champs. I'm still looking at everybody."
Following the visit to Gainesville, Kabongo claims he'll be ready to make a decision. Who else is he looking at?
"I'd say I'm down to Florida, Maryland and Notre Dame," he said. "Notre Dame also hasn't offered, but they said they're going to very soon.
"I picked these schools because they all have good academics and I like the atmosphere around them. It's great. I like the football programs too, they are very good."
Of the list of finalists, Kabongo hasn't been linked to Maryland as much as the Irish and Gators. He went into detail about what makes the Terrapins stick out.
"I like the coaches a lot at Maryland," he said. "I think they have a good chance to do something in the ACC by getting to a championship and possibly as far as a national championship."
