Rivals250 DT considers officials

Rivals250 defensive tackle Aleric Mullins out of Wendell (N.C.) East Wake currently holds eight offers from Oklahoma, Michigan State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder has begun to consider official visits.
"I know Auburn wants him to come down for an official and they call him on a weekly basis which he likes. I think they are definitely a likely candidate for an official from him. He still doesn't hold an offer from Auburn or Virginia Tech though," said Sam Hales, East Wake offensive coordinator. "I also know Tennessee is trying to get him down. Assistant Dan Brooks used to be at North Carolina, so there's a connection there with him. They haven't offered, but they continue to express a lot of interest. Al went to the Georgia-Tennessee game last weekend and I think he really enjoyed the atmosphere there. I believe he may want to go back for an official sometime."

Does the four-star prospect have any favorites?
"I think he's still trying to keep all his doors open. He's not leaning one way or another from what I can tell," he said. "He's playing it smart and wants to take a good look at all the schools. I think part of the issue is that he's trying to deal with a matter of finances right now to see where he can go."
One new school Mullins may be hearing more from is Florida State.
"I know that Florida State is possibly going to show up this Friday and they have expressed a strong interest in him," he said. "I don't know if he'll entertain them, but it's obvious his name is getting out there more and people are interested."
The No. 16 defensive tackle in the country has helped East Wake to a 6-1 season so far.
"He's had a lot of solo tackles this year and was even just accepted to the Shrine Bowl. He's a big reason, but not the only reason we're 6-1 now," he said. "He gets double teamed a lot and it makes him a little mad, but he channels that and positive things come out of it. He's still very involved on defense despite the double team and makes a lot of plays.
