Four-star defensive tackle Keondre Coburn’s twitter handle is slowburn99, but his recruitment over the past few weeks has come to a rolling boil.

In the days leading up to a trip to Austin for Texas’s most recent junior day event, he added offers from Arizona State, Florida State and Oregon. His excitement varies in regards to those most recent three, but for Texas, who offered him in early January, he simply had one thing to saw following his visit.

“I like every school the same, but Texas has me thinking about them,” he said. “They’re probably my top right now.”

If the Longhorns are No. 1, then it seems as though their top threat at the moment right now is the Seminoles. Coburn is close friends with Marvin Wilson, who committed to FSU on National Signing Day, and his enthusiasm when talking about picking up that offer was clear.

“That’s one of my major schools that I had been wishing would offer,” he said. “So them doing that just made it better. That might be the school I go to - I don’t know. Marvin just went there and that’s one of my closest dudes. I really want to see Florida State and Florida too and schools around there.”

Maybe Wilson has already nudged his new coaches to take a closer look at Coburn, but either way, he wasted no time getting the ball rolling on selling his hometown friend on his new digs.

“Marvin just said you know where home is at and all that,” he said. “He just told me about what he thought Florida State was family and they won’t lie to you or anything like that.”

IN HIS WORDS

On Arizona State

“I have been talking to the new coaches recently,” he said. “I enjoy it, it was pretty nice [to get the offer] I just want to get to know Arizona State, one of my guys goes there, so it would give me a chance to play with one of my old players.”

On talking Sun Devils with former teammate Dillon Sterling-Cole

“I haven’t got to far into it with him yet,” he said. “He’s just said that it’s been fun. In the summer I plan to go see all the schools on the west coast, so they’ll be in that.”

On Oregon

“It was a surprise, because you never think that a school where all they do is run would offer you,” he said. “It was a surprise and a blessing because I have been playing with Oregon on NCAA [football video game] since I was little. I love their uniforms, and that was really nice and it just tells me that I got the ability and skills to play there - the speed and all that.”

“I didn’t really know about the last coaching staff but it doesn’t really matter to me,” he said. “I want to get to know (the current coaches) so I can understand the coaching staff’s changes.”

RIVALS REACTION

Coburn has a nice collection of offers and it’s still a little difficult to gauge how serious he is about what trips to what schools until the offseason unfolds a little more. It’s obvious that the Longhorns and Seminoles are on the shortlist of contenders at this point, but he also mentioned Michigan as a school that he would be interested in taking a closer look at.

Throw in Texas A&M, where he took a junior day visit to in January and Oklahoma, who was his biggest offer at the time that he received it, and there is still much to consider for Coburn as he heads towards the summer.
