Rivals250 DE visits UNC, changes up trips a bit

Rivals250 defensive end Sam Montgomery took his second official visit this past weekend. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder rolled through Chapel Hill with his mom to check out the Tar Heels.
"We liked it, it was really nice," Montgomery's mom, Debra said. "It was a beautiful campus, we saw the student housing, business department and of course the football center and stadium. We also attended the North Carolina/Miami basketball game.

"The crowd was very lively the whole time."
Montgomery and his mom thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
"We talked to several of the coaches," she said. "Coach Blake and Thigpen, everyone was very nice and the hotel there was beautiful.
"We met with Butch Davis too. He's very down-to-earth and a lot of fun. We met him and his wife, Coach Blake and his wife and son. We had quality time," she said. "We also liked the new construction for the football center.
"We went to Coach Davis's office and we joked with him that you could play hide and seek since it's so big. The strength coach was off the chain as well."
Overall the trip was a good one for the Montgomery's.
"It was nice," she said. "We have to say thank you again to Coach Blake and Davis, we had a lot of fun."
Montgomery has switched up his visits a bit.
"He's going to LSU this weekend, the 23rd," she said. "Then Oregon on the 27th, Tuesday through Thursday. Then on the 30th we'll be at Tennessee. We switched it up because Tennessee wanted the last weekend before Signing Day.
"He still plans to announce his choice on Signing Day on ESPN."
