Rivals250 DE McCray visits MD

On his way to a seven-on-seven Saturday, Lynchburg (Va.) Brookville defensive end Zack McCray made his way through Maryland. The Rivals250 to watch 2010 prospect enjoyed the trip and discussed his future plans.
"Maryland was fun," he said. "I went up there and got a little visit in. Basically I got a whole tour of the campus and got to see the student center. The whole team was in there bowling. I chilled with them a bit.

"I really like the business school up there and the opportunities when you graduate. I little more than 90% of the kids graduate and get jobs in D.C. or Baltimore."
McCray met with Ralph Friedgen on the trip as well.
"I talked to all the coaches at least once and my dad and I sat down with Coach Freidgen," he stated. "He's a straight up guy. He doesn't feed you bull crap and tell you how it is. He talked about switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 and they are going to be short on defensive ends, so I have a good chance of seeing early playing time there."
The trip to Maryland was McCray's first.
"Basically it was my first time to meet all the coaches," he said. "I liked Coach Friedgen, he's really cool. He's a straight up guy that tells you how it is. I like Coach Franklin too. He's the coach in waiting and I like that whole thing. There's no instability, he knows the system."
Meanwhile, how did the 7-on-7 go?
"It was fun," he said. "We were the No. 1 seed and fastest, tallest and strongest, most athletic overall. We won our pool, but lost since we had a five or six game layover."
McCray is looking at a few more visits in the near future potentially.
"I might take a visit to North Carolina. I have to get in touch with their coaches," he said. "I definitely want to get back up to Tech and then I'm probably going to Nike Camp at Virginia."
