Rivals250 defensive back Isheem Young is focused on six finalists heading into his commitment on Tuesday July 18th. Alabama, Clemson, Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State, and West Virginia are the only schools that have a chance of landing the Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute Charter School star. He goes in-depth on each finalist below.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

Alabama- “The defensive backs coach and I have a pretty good relationship,” Young said. “We’ve been talking to each other. He’s a really good coach. My recruiting coach has been coming to see me.”

Clemson- “Coach Reed and I have a really good relationship,” he said. “They have a really good school there with their academics. I think I could go there and play early.”

Maryland-DJ (Moore) and I are really close,” said Young. “He’s always texting me telling me I need to commit. Coach Tucker, coach Aazaar, and coach Brawley are all really cool. They’re my guys. I was there for a 7-on-7 tournament a few months ago.”

Ohio State- “Coach Meyer and coach Schiano reach out to me the most,” he said. “They are texting me every day. They make sure I’m having a good day and send me a motivational quote. I think I’d play early there. They say they could use me all over the field. Coach Schiano just says he wants me on the field.”

Penn State-Marcus Allen and I are really close,” Young said. “He texts me telling me what I need to work on and what I’m doing wrong. He was doing the same thing at the 7-on-7 tournament. We have a really good relationship. I’m close with Shaka Toney, Shareef Miller, and KJ Hamler. I’ve got a lot of players that I’m close with there. Coach Franklin and coach Banks are my guys too.”

West Virginia- “Coach Scott hit me up pretty much every day telling me about how much they need me, not just that they want me,” he said. “That means a lot to me, when coaches tell me they need me. The campus and facilities are pretty cool.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

West Virginia, Maryland, and Penn State seem like the teams with the best odds when it comes to Young’s commitment. Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State haven’t made him as big of a priority as the previous three schools and he’s visited them more. Penn State probably has the edge but Young’s relationships with players and coaches at Maryland and West Virginia are strong as well.
