Since he committed to the Gators earlier this summer, Immokalee (Fla.) defensive back J.C. Jackson has made an effort to connect with fellow members of Florida's 2014 class - and even found out one of them is a relative.
"(Rivals100 wide receiver and recent Gators commit) Ermon Lane is my cousin on my mom's side," Jackson said. "We just found that out earlier this summer. We're both going to be on the same team and I'm proud. He's a wide receiver I'm a cornerback and we're gonna be going against each other every day making each other better."
Jackson said the recent flurry of big commitments for the Gators has him excited to be a part of what is shaping up to be a special 2014 class.
"Ermon, Quincy (Wilson), Chris (Lammons), all those guys are on board now," he said. "I'm glad they became part of the family and I can't wait to play with those boys."
Jackson said he hopes to take his official visit to Gainesville for the Tennessee game on Sept. 21, but regardless he hopes to be in town for every home game this season.
As far as his role at the next level, Jackson said he hopes it's not just limited to snaps on defense.
"They say I'm a playmaker and they want to get the ball in my hands," Jackson said. "Maybe on kick returns or punt returns. I'm playing safety for my team this year but when they need me on offense I'll step in and do what's needed to help my team win."
