The latest: Rivals250 defensive back Adonis Otey has already had quite the recruitment, from garnering offers early on in his high school career to a one-time commitment to Tennessee, he's seen a little bit of everything. Now the two-time Five-Star Challenge invitee is ready to start zeroing in an a commitment decision, one he plans on making by the end of the summer and being final. Rivals.com caught up with Otey to discuss his plans for summer visits and camps as he narrows his options heading into June.
In His Words: "I've been talking to a lot of coaches and a lot of people want to get me on campus so I'm going to focus on these schools and go from there. My plan is to announce my decision later this summer."
Oklahoma
"I just been talking to Coach Cooks and I seem to be pretty high on their board based on what he has been saying. So I want to go out there and see the campus and camp and everything. They like my versatility and Coach Cooks has said he likes my physicality and my speed and my knowledge of football. I’m trying to see how he coaches his players and how he is and stuff like that because that's the guy I would be working with every day at the next level. I also want to see campus and really see what they have to offer since it will be my first time going out there."
Florida State
"They offered me when to visit so I want to make sure I go down there and camp and show them I'm interested. That’s DBU. I want to go there and show them that I can fit in to what they are trying to do. Jalen Ramsey is my favorite player and a guy I grew up watching so they've always had my attention."
Alabama
"That's an offer that I’ve had an offer for a long time. I’ve been talking to Coach Enos and Coach Tosh Lupoi. They just want me to come down and see the campus and work with the new defensive backs coach because last time I camped with them if was for Coach Ansley. It will be fun to get on the field and work with them and Coach Saban. He's arguably one of the greatest coaches of all-time so anytime you get a chance to be around him and his program it's big."
Ohio State
"They’ve been wanting me to get up there for the longest time and now I will finally have the chance with school and track and everything done. Coach Johnson and Coach Alford, they have been telling me about the program and how they can develop me and help me reach all my goals at the next level. It's been a long time since I visited, it was my freshman year, so I want to get back and experience the campus and work with the coaches at camp. They put defensive backs in the draft every year so I expect it to be pretty competitive and I like to compete in that type of environment."
Tennessee
"I want to go up there and take a visit and talk with the new defensive backs coach Terry Fair and also spend some time with the other defensive coaches like Coach Kelly, Coach Pruitt and Coach Coach Fair, Coach Kelly, Coach Pruitt and Coach Sherrer. I was just there for a visit and got to spend some time with Coach Pruitt but I really want to spend some time with the other coaches. It's been nice since they go there, they have been keeping up with me and coming by my school to check in during spring as well."
Looking forward to seeing: "I don’t really have to see much. I’ve seen everything. I just want to talk to Coach Fair and them because they weren’t there the last time I came to campus. Coach Fair seems cool and laid back. He seems like a coach coach to be around. I want to talk to him about how they would use me and how I would fit and everything."
Michigan
"I’ve been talking to Coach Zordich the defensive backs coach he just wants to get me on campus to check out the blue and gold. I want to get up there and see campus and all the tradition and everything that people are always talking about. They have a good defense and had a lot of guys drafted last year so I'm going to go up there and see what they are all about."
