Rivals250 CB opens things up

Rivals250 cornerback Louis Young has confirmed he is opening things up. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound prospect out of Olney (Md.) Good Counsel discussed that with Rivals.com further today.
"Right now I'm saying I'm a soft verbal," he said. "I like Stanford, it's a great school and everything, but I'm still not 100% sold on me going there. I'm not really comfortable with my decision; I want to be closer to home possibly. I'm just the type of guy that gets homesick pretty easily. I don't want to be that far away."

As he maintains he's a soft verbal to Stanford, what sticks out about the Cardinal?
"It's just the whole thing with the academics," he said. "I also love the coaching staff."
While Young hasn't affirmed a top five, he did mention five schools he's definitely considering.
"In no order it's Maryland, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Connecticut and Virginia," he stated. "I like the distance with all of them and the competition. All of those are competing. Boston College and Virginia Tech are always contenders for the ACC Championship and big-time ACC schools. Maryland is a big-time ACC school. Virginia is rebuilding and I like that and then Connecticut competes in the Big East and they are always getting noticed."
From here, the No. 18 cornerback in the country isn't sure on his next step.
"Probably next week I'll announce something on where I'm going with my recruitment," he said. "Right now I'm still a soft verbal to Stanford.
"I am looking at taking some visits, that would probably be during my season or after. There is the possibility I could decide before the season starts though."
Practice kicks off next week for Young in preparation for the season opener in San Diego on September 5th.
"I'm just getting ready for the season," he said. "I'm working out hard with my teammates and everybody is coming together. We're working hard trying to get over the hump."
