Rivals250 athlete DeAngelo Gibbs has been on the recruiting radar of major programs since his freshman year of high school. IN HIS WORDS

"I picked Georgia because it was a great opportunity for me to play and stay in state close to my family. I’m just ready to go ahead and go and get up there and get to work. It’s a great program and I think better things are going to come soon. They already had one of the top recruiting classes in the country and I feel like I’m a good addition to that. I think I can help the team instantly from day one."

On joining a highly-ranked recruiting class: “I think it’s going to be very special. When you are in the same conversation as Alabama and Ohio State that really shows something in terms of how good of a job the coaches have been doing recruiting. Great players are coming on board and I’m happy to be part of the wave that’s coming in.”

On positional fit: “They actually see me as an athlete that can play offense and defense. They can throw me the ball at wide receiver some but my primary role will be on defense. They think I can learn the defense and then also find a way to contribute on offense. That’s part of the advantage of me getting there early. I have time to learn and be ready by the time fall camp comes around."

RIVALS REACTION

Gibbs is a two-way playmaker that can have an impact either at safety or wide receiver. Winning a battle against Alabama head-to-head is a great thing for Kirby Smart, and the Bulldogs are rolling at the right time with National Signing Day just a month away.
