Rivals100 WR Devonta "Whop" Jason de-commits from Kansas

A move that most observers of college football recruiting expected for quite some time came to pass on Sunday night, as Rivals100 New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker wide receiver Devonta "Whop" Jason offically backed off his pledge from Kansas.

The move, which was made via an announcement on Jason's Twitter, ends a nearly 10-month long marriage that made national headlines. When Jason released the news on Sunday, he kept it short and sweet.

The de-commitment is the second of Jason's high school career, as he originally committed to LSU as a sophomore before backing off that pledge prior to the start of his junior season. Jason's relationship with the Tigers has been hot and cold, including a canceled official visit earlier this month.

Depending on how things shake out with numbers in the class, the Tigers are a school to watch for Jason going forward, as is Mississippi State and Memphis. Florida could also play a factor, especially considering that the Gators staff was recruiting Jason hard when they were in Starkville.

Jason's commitment leaves Kansas with just two commits, four-star defensive back Corione Harris and three-star running back Anthony "Pooka" Williams, from the six players that committed to the school in February.

Jason is expected to announce a decision on Dec. 20 and sign at that time as well.
