Rivals100 safety waiting for No. 1

Things are starting to pick up for Rivals100 safety Tekerrein Cuba, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound hard-hitting defensive back is receiving his fair share of mail and is now waiting on offers to arrive at his doorstep.
Cuba was also present this past weekend at the Texas junior day. Though he didn't receive an offer from the Longhorn coaching staff, he still has UT and another in-state school heavily on his mind. His next trip will be this week.

"I'm going to Texas A&M this week," Cuba said. "I've been talking to a lot of schools. Texas and Texas A&M, but I've also heard from Mississippi State and TCU as well. I'm kind of just looking around right now and waiting things out."
Many of the coaches that he's talked with on the phone have said that even though no offers have come, it shouldn't be too much longer.
"They all tell me it will be sometime soon," Cuba said about scholarship offers. "Then we usually just talk about the position that I would play and all of the usual stuff."
Cuba says that a decision will not be quick and early no matter when the offers come. He's planning on taking in some summer camps including the NIKE Training Camp in College Station.
Right now, his focus is on the track season. But, the talented young man is not just shining at one event.
"I'm running in three events with spring relays, the 200 meter, and the mile relays," Cuba said. "My best is the 200 meters. That's my event right there."
As for his final varsity football season, Cuba says that he'll continue to do what he does best. While covering the pass is one of his strong suits, it's his vicious hitting ability that coaches are excited about.
"I love making the big hit," he said. "I don't know. I guess I just like to be the one to make contact."
