Rivals100 safety names top five

St. Augustine (Fla.) safety Willie Cooper was out playing basketball for much of Sunday but he was at home to receive two calls from college coaches. Cooper, one of the top players in the state and a four-star prospect, recently was offered by another state school and lists a top five.

"I was home for two calls," Cooper said on Sunday night. "There's been a lot of others calling but I was only home for two calls. I talked to Florida State and NC State."
Cooper has quite a few scholarship offers already and just added one more last week.
"Miami offered me last Thursday," Cooper said. "They told my coach they were offering."
Recruiting isn't a big priority for Cooper right now. His sights are set on his senior football season at St. Augustine. Last year his team made it all the way to the Class 3A championship game but fell to Rockledge.
"I'm going to have to talk with my coach about (scheduling official visits)," Cooper said. "My focus is on our season right now. Colleges are second right now. We've got a job to do."
St. Augustine High School had a kickoff classic scheduled last week but the weather didn't cooperate.
"We were supposed to play Bolles this Friday but they cancelled the game because of the field conditions," Cooper said. "The field was soaking wet and it wasn't worth getting the field messed up and maybe someone getting injured. This week we play Fernandina Beach. I don't know much about them but I know they always have tough, big kids."
Willie Cooper did mention a top five of schools he's the most interested in.
"Florida State, Florida, now Miami, Oklahoma, and then Rutgers," Cooper said. "Those are my favorites."
He has offers from all. Cooper wasn't able to attend a college football this past weekend but he does plan on attending one this upcoming weekend.
"I was going to attend Florida State's game but I wasn't able to get up there," Cooper said. "I'm going to Florida-Miami this weekend."
