Rivals100 safety adds three scholies

Recruiting has slowed down a bit for Matthews (N.C.) Butler safety Robert Blanton. The Rivals100 prospect has stopped taking visits for the moment, although offers continue to come in.
"Right now I'm just hanging out, working hard to keep my grades up," he said. "I haven't taken any visits at all recently. I also don't have any plans to go anywhere in the near future."

Despite that, Blanton has picked up three offers from out West.
"I got offers from California, Oregon and Colorado all in the past two weeks or so," he stated. "I don't really have any thoughts about them because I don't know a lot about those colleges. I'll take a look at them. I can tell you that distance is not a factor for me at this time."
With the three new offers in-hand, the North Carolina prospect is up to 20 scholarships. Is anyone leading?
"Nobody is really standing out," he said. "I'm just looking at everyone that has offered me."
The big news in the past week has been the shooting at Virginia Tech. Blanton is one prospect that holds a scholarship from the Hokies. Does that change his thoughts on them?
"It doesn't really," he said. "I love their coaching staff and they have shown me great hospitality. They also provide great academics for what I want to major in, business management."
Blanton registered 147 tackles and seven interceptions last season on his way to all-Mecklenburg, all-state and conference defensive player of the year.
