THE LATEST: Four-star wide receiver Warren Thompson recently visited Florida and has more travel on tap. The Rivals100 prospect will tour Miami on Feb 18 and is in the process of setting up a trip to Florida State, which could come in the weeks following his time in Coral Gables.

“I’m Florida State, I don’t know, maybe two weeks after Miami or something,” Thompson said. “I’m still trying to set that up and figure out when.”

Thompson names a top four of Florida, Florida State, Miami, and North Carolina but is open to adding to or subtracting from that list in the months ahead. He says he’s established a close relationship with the coaches at North Carolina. The Tar Heels style of offense also plays a role in the team’s standing inside Thompson’s top four.

Still, pulling a top-flight player out of the Sunshine State isn’t some easy task. This, it seems, will take additional work.

“I don’t really care about staying in state,” Thompson said. “I mean, I would but that’s not what matters. I just want to be comfortable wherever.”

IN HIS WORDS: “I’m gonna wait on a commitment. I’m gonna wait until my Signing Day.”

RIVALS REACTION: Thompson seems like a good bet to stay in Florida simply based on statistics. Three of his top four are Florida-based schools, and it would take a truly special recruiting effort for North Carolina to pull a fast one on all three in-state powers. That said, it’s too early to tell. There may be more offers to come for Thompson and a year’s worth of recruiting visits could easily change his mind.
