IN HIS OWN WORDS

"Penn State has always been my dream school ever since I was a little boy," Martin said. "Ever since they started recruiting me they've shown me nothing but how committed they are to me and my family and how they're going to do anything to help me thrive at their university.

"Coach Seider and coach Terry have been recruiting me ever since freshman year so I've created a great bond with them," he said. "We're all really tight. Me and (Anthony) Speca have been tight ever since fifth grade. Ta'mere (Robinson) and I started getting close my freshman year. The same thing with Lamont (Payne). I'm sure we're going to recruit a lot of the nation's top athletes.

"We're going up there next weekend for the spring game," said Martin. "I'll be going on my official visit June 9th-11th with my family."

RIVALS' REACTION

Martin is a massive addition for Penn State as they look to continue their streak of dominant running backs. Just like Saquon Barkely, Miles Sanders, and Nick Singleton, Martin is an in-state prospect who could have an early impact on the field. He is an upright runner with great power and can score from nearly anywhere on the field. Martin has excellent vision in the open field and is versatile enough to line up all over the formation. He has the ability to run over most defenders who challenge him but he is shifty enough to make them miss in space. Martin also does a good job catching the ball out of the backfield, something that should be very useful in Penn State's offensive scheme. Last season Martin ran for 1,279 yards and scored 22 touchdowns on the ground and added 424 receiving yards and six more receiving touchdowns.

Penn State now sits at No. 7 in the Rivals.com 2024 class team recruiting rankings. Martin is their seventh commitment this cycle and their fourth in-state commitment.
