Rivals100 RB heads to the Big Ten

After narrowing his list down to three not too long ago, four-star running back Brandon Beachum out of Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney made a decision earlier today. Who did the 5-foot-11, 216-pounder select between the Badgers, Nittany Lions and Cornhuskers?
"I decided this afternoon for Penn State," he said. "I talked to Joe Paterno this morning to give him my commitment.

"He was pretty excited about my decision and hopes I'm ready to do everything."
The Rivals100 tailback selected the Nittany Lions for quite a few reasons.
"It just seemed like my home," he said. "It's the best place for me and I think I fit in there.
"They just had all the right things I was looking for in a school. They have the academics and a great football program. They also have the tradition too."
The coaches were important as well.
"Coach Paterno is just a great, down-to-earth person. He's very impressionable and that helped a lot," he said. "I also like Jay Paterno, my recruiter. He did a lot of the touring of the campus with me and was great too."
The No. 5 running back in the nation will have to work hard to earn playing time at Penn State.
"Obviously they aren't guaranteeing me anything, I'm just hoping for the best," he said. "I've got to show up and playing, fight for that position and that's what I plan on doing. I'm really looking forward to playing at Penn State."
Beachum selected Penn State over numerous other offers including Florida State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Boston College, West Virginia and others.
