Rivals100 RB de-commits

After plenty of speculation for months following an early commitment to West Virginia, Long Island (N.Y.) North Babylon running back Jason Gwaltney has made it official. He's de-committed from West Virginia.
"I did it today," said the 6-foot-0, 234-pounder. "I didn't want to mislead West Virginia and wanted them to continue to recruit other backs. I'm still even between West Virginia, Ohio State and Southern Cal actually. I was all hyped up from my USC visit last night, but thinking about it today, all three are equal."

Gwaltney, the No. 29 player in the nation and No. 5 running back, took an official visit to Southern Cal this weekend and loved it. There were rumors from other recruits that he had committed to the Trojans.
"I heard some of that and that a newspaper out there said I was committed," he said. "That's crazy how things happen. I loved the visit, but I'm not committed. I know I'm de-committed from West Virginia though, I spoke to coach Hand today."
And what was his reaction?
"He was disappointed and they said they're not giving up at all," he said. "They're coming to my house on Thursday, which is cool. I told them I just need to step back and consider everything over again. It is what it is."
Gwaltney said he might take an official visit to Michigan State this weekend and still has his official set with West Virginia for Jan. 7.
"I'm still planning on announcing at the U.S. Army All American Game," he said. "Hopefully I'll know for sure by then."
