Rivals100 RB D'Andre Swift plans visits, commitment date

D'Andre Swift previously announced a top five of Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and Penn State but does not claim a favorite despite many reports to the contrary. The Rivals100 running back from Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's has a few visits coming up and knows when he will announce his commitment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

Alabama: "I really like the history that they have at running back there," Swift said. "Coach Saban has a lot of experience on so many levels of football that he gives to all of those players. The intensity and the atmosphere in the program is something I really like. The running back that they compare me most to is Mark Ingram but on my visit I want to hear more about how I would be used if I went there. I will visit Alabama on July 17th. Florida State and Clemson will be after that. I'm trying to talk to my dad to try to get those visits on the same trip."

Clemson: "I like the relationship I have with coach Elliott and I really like the offense," he said. "The style of play is a lot like what I do in my offense in high school. They'd split me out, put me in the slot, and I can return kicks and punts. I can just do a lot more stuff. I saw a scrimmage when I was there last and I got to see how the coaches were interacting with the players and the atmosphere itself. I didn't get to see the academic stuff."

Florida State: "I've liked Florida State since before I was in high school," said Swift. "I really like the way they play and their style of football. I have a great relationship with coach Fisher and coach Brewster. They are a team that's talked about every year. It's just big time football."

Georgia: "I really don't pay attention to questions about if Georgia is my leader," he said. "People ask me but I don't really pay attention to them. They have the same chance as every other school in my top five. I want to see all of my schools and then make my decision before the season. I like everything at Georgia. There are things to do around the town when football isn't going on. I really like the coaches there and it's big time football there too. They're in the SEC and they have a great running back tradition."

Penn State: "They have a new offense coming into this year so I think they are going to produce better than last year," Swift said. "With the recruiting class that they have I think they're up-and-coming also. Coach Franklin is doing the right things. They have a new facility, new locker room, and new indoor facility. I think they are doing the right things with the program."

On when he will commit: "I think I'm going to do a video and release it in really late August or early September right before my first game. I'll probably release it when I get to my hotel in California on August 31st or September 1st before our first game."

WHAT'S NEXT?

Alabama will be the next school to host Swift and there is a chance he will stop at Florida State and Clemson on the same trip.

RIVALS' REACTION

These last three visits will be very impactful for Swift and his decision making process. Alabama, Florida State, and Clemson have been involved in Swift's recruitment for a very long time and have established strong relationships. Georgia fans should still feel very good about their chances even though Swift refuses to call the Bulldogs his top school. However, if any of these visits blow Swift away, Georgia could be in danger of not getting Swift's commitment.
