Rivals100 prospect B.J. Foster still locked and loaded for Texas

HOUSTON, Tex. -- Rivals100 safety B.J. Foster might be one in a highly-anticipated crop of defensive backs headed to Texas next season, but he's been seen more on the offensive side of the ball during his senior season.

He’s always been counted on at Angleton to help pace the Wildcats rushing attack, but as the featured player on offense in a state quarterfinal win against Richmond-Foster, he lit up NRG Stadium with big play after big play.

“I go wherever the team needs me to go,” he said. “I play hard regardless - that’s something that my dad always taught me, play where they put you and play your best.”

Foster missed most of last season with a knee injury that also kept him from competing in many offseason events. After recovering from that and helping his team advance so far in the playoffs this year, he’s enjoyed this fall more and more with each passing week.

“Its great,” he said. “We worked hard to get here, my teammates worked hard in the offseason, in the weight room, so this is a blessing for us.”

IN HIS WORDS

On how he feels about Texas after this season

“We just can’t wait to get there,” he said. “Our class is gonna turn it around; we’re going to show them how 2018 does it.”

Recapping his recent in-home visit with the Longhorns staff

“It was fun having my family there with me,” he said. “They enjoyed themselves, we had some good barbecue, and Coach Tom Herman really liked that.”

RIVALS REACTION

No big surprise here; Foster is one of the crown jewels in the Longhorns class this year and played like it - albeit on offense - against Foster. Texas’ 2018 class has bought into the believing it’s the reinforcements that the team might wished it had this season and Foster is one of the recruits leading the charge.

Of course, the rich could potentially get richer if five-star Anthony Cook joins the ranks. Foster said that he’s working on him but he’s not sure how much progress he’s made.

“I have been contacting him a little bit,” he said. “But he’s a hard one, he’ll never reply.”
