Rivals100: No. 1-20 updates

Scouting report: Players of Davidson's build (6-foot-4, 268 pounds) don't often retain such athleticism. When they do, they usually earn lofty rankings. So is the case with the five-star end from Alabama. His blend of size and quickness make him a truly elite prospect.
Latest: The younger brother of former Auburn defensive lineman Kenneth Carter, Davidson has a tie to Auburn but a commitment to the Tigers isn't exactly a forgone conclusion. He visited Alabama in late February and is thought to be nowhere near a decision.
Leaders: Auburn, Alabama, Georgia.
Way-too-early prediction: Auburn
3
QB
Shea Patterson
Shreveport (La.) Calvary Academy
Scouting report: Patterson has good size (6-2, 191) and more athleticism than he is often credited. He can also spin the ball. He is one of, if not the most, polished quarterbacks in the country.
Latest: Patterson attended the Rivals Quarterback Challenge in Dallas over the weekend where he earned top performers honors. He plans to visit Ole Miss in the near future.
Leaders: Committed to Ole Miss
4
DT
Rashan Gary
Paramus (N.J.) Paramus Catholic
Scouting report: Gary's exceptional explosiveness and tenacity make him virtually unblockable. His strength and hand technique are improving each time we see him. Gary often sees double- and triple-teams.
Latest: Gary is in the process of setting up visits to schools in the South and Midwest. Gary's former coach is on the staff at Michigan and the Wolverines are in good position with him, but Gary won't be able to narrow down his list until he takes more visits.
Leaders: Michigan, Penn State, Rutgers, Ohio State, Alabama.
Way-too-early prediction: Michigan
5
WR
Nate Craig-Myers
Tampa (Fla.) Catholic
Scouting report: When healthy, Myers is as versatile a wide receiver as there is. His speed makes him a threat to stretch the field and the 6-2, 198-pounder is a nightmare in the red zone and various jump-ball situations. His strength is sometimes overlooked, as jamming Craig-Myers at the line is nearly impossible for high school cornerbacks.
Latest: Craig-Myers is still nursing an injury and has not participated in any offseason camps. He remains committed to Auburn, but schools such as Florida State and Georgia remain involved.
Leaders: Committed to Auburn
6
ATH
Demetris Robertson
Savannah (Ga.) Christian
Scouting report: One of the most dynamic athletes in the country, Robertson could be an elite wide receiver or defensive back. As he continues to grow into his 6-0, 167-pound frame, he's looking more like a future No. 1 wide receiver for a power program.
Latest: Robertson is committed to Alabama but is still taking visits to other programs, including Georgia and Auburn.
Leaders: Committed to Alabama
7
DT
Derrick Brown
Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier
Scouting report: A versatile three-sport athlete, the 6-foot-5 Brown is now up over 300 pounds and he hasn't lost one bit of the athleticism that makes him a special prospect at the defensive tackle position.
Latest: Brown recently visited Georgia and continues to maintain a strong relationship with Alabama. He will participate in the Rivals Camp Series event in Atlanta this weekend.
Leaders: Georgia, Alabama, Clemson
Way-too-early prediction: Alabama
8
DT
Gregory Little
Allen, Texas
Scouting report: Little has a special blend of size and athleticism. The 6-5, 285-pounder is a combination of nimble and nasty not often found in the trenches. He is also well-coached and very intelligent.
Latest: Little committed to Texas A&M in June, and has remained pretty solid in his commitment.
Leaders: Committed to Texas A&M
9
CB
Levonta Taylor
Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes
Scouting report: Taylor is only 5-foot-10, but his fantastic footwork and great overall speed make him tough for any wide receiver to shake. On top of that, his instincts are second to none. Taylor does not get faked out by double moves or pump fakes.
Latest: Taylor has taken a lot of visits and will be taking more this spring. Look for him to hit the West Coast and more schools in the South. He will be focusing on teams that are thin at the cornerback position.
Leaders: USC, LSU, Florida State, Florida, Ohio State, Georgia
Way-too-early prediction: Florida State
10
DE
Shavar Manuel
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Scouting report: Manuel's greatest strength is his raw power. It's not that he's a one-trick pony, though. Prospects that aren't well-rounded don't tend to rank this high. But while his quickness and technique are developed, Manuel wows onlookers by putting tackles on the ground and getting off the edge.
Latest: Manuel may or may not be a silent commitment to Florida State. Warchant.com reported recently that Manuel did not commit, but he said FSU was the clear leader in his recruitment. There's more than a small chance that Manuel is considered a commit inside the Florida State recruiting offices.
Leaders: Florida State
Way-too-early prediction: Florida State
11
LB
Rahshaun Smith
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Scouting report: Smith could play end or linebacker at the next level and may be tailor-made for the hybrid spot that has caught on across college football. His versatility is his strength and his first step is devastating.
Latest: Smith has taken a bevy of visits and plans to take more in the future.
Leaders: Smith names no official favorites but Oklahoma, Alabama, Penn State, Florida, Clemson, Maryland and Tennessee seem most involved.
Way-too-early prediction: Clemson
12
LB
Caleb Kelly
Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West
Scouting report: Kelly is a big, physical linebacker who gets his hands on receivers at the line and then he can also drop back in coverage and take up a lot of space. For someone who is 6-3, and 215 pounds, Kelly is surprisingly athletic, he can jump to tip passes, he's smart and can read quarterbacks and does an excellent job staying stride for stride with receivers. Kelly proved recently in Las Vegas that he's one of the top prospects in the country regardless of position.
Latest: The five-star linebacker was the No. 1 defensive player at the Las Vegas Pylon 7v7. He is also signed up for the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles on May 10.
Leaders: Kelly recently narrowed his list to a top 10 of TCU, Notre Dame, Alabama, Washington, UCLA, Oklahoma, Florida State, Oregon, Michigan and LSU.
Way-too-early prediction: UCLA
13
DT
Dexter Lawrence
Wake Forest, N.C.
Scouting report: Much like Gary, Lawrence's athleticism gives offensive linemen fits. He is tireless in pursuit and does a great job of shedding blockers. The 6-5, 290-pounder is particularly effective in short-yardage situations.
Latest: The basketball season made it difficult for Lawrence to get out on the road and see some schools. He has been able to make the short trip to North Carolina and N.C. State, but look for him to get out to Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, and LSU at some point in the next couple of months.
Leaders: North Carolina, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Alabama
Way-too-early prediction: Clemson
14
LB
Ben Davis
Gordo, Ala.
Scouting report: Physically, Davis looks as good as any player in the country. His physique (6-4, 231) is impressive and he backs up with solid strength and an ability to cover sideline to sideline. He moves extremely well laterally, and his long arms allow him to close quickly.
Latest: Davis released a top seven in late February, but all signs point to the linebacker staying in state for college. LSU and Florida hold outside shots of landing his commitment.
Leaders: Alabama and Auburn
Way-too-early prediction: Alabama
15
QB
Malik Henry
Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
Scouting report: Sometimes, people interpret the dual-threat tag as an indicator of a run-first quarterback. That's not the case with Henry, who can throw the ball as well as he can run it. Henry's arm strength and accuracy aren't in question. He's as well-rounded as high school quarterbacks come.
Latest: Henry committed to Florida State in November.
Leaders: Committed to Florida State
16
LB
Lyndell Wilson
Montgomery (Ala.) Carver
Scouting report: Ideally, Wilson would be touch taller but standing 6-foot-1 certainly doesn't hold him back, as the outside linebacker has deceptively long arms and moves incredibly well in coverage. His quickness is his calling card and he's no slouch in run support, either. Wilson, who is already quite thick at 218 pounds, should get better on that front as he adds even more muscle.
Latest: Wilson recently helped his high school's basketball team win a state title. He plans to visit a number of schools this offseason.
Leaders: Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.
Way-too-early prediction: Alabama
17
LB
Keion Joyner
Havelock, N.C.
Scouting report: Competing in a camp setting is not Joyner's forte, but between the lines on game day, there isn't a better player. He quickly diagnoses the play and uses his athleticism to get to the ball carrier as quickly as possible. His length, strength and aggressiveness have teams going to the opposite side of the field.
Latest: The Tar Heels have been putting the full-court press on Joyner for a while now and LSU has been in the mix since Day 1, but look out for Florida State. Brad Lawing has a lot of connections to Havelock, which could prove valuable.
Leaders: North Carolina, LSU, Florida State
Way-too-early prediction: LSU
18
RB
Kareem Walker
Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic
Scouting report: Walker is a bigger running back with great vision. His ability to change directions quickly is impressive for someone 6-1 and 210 pounds. Once Walker gets to the second and third levels, defenders have a very difficult time of bringing him down. If he can get to top speed, he will break away from defenders.
Latest: Walker committed pretty much out of the blue during the National Championship game. He had built a great relationship with Stan Drayton before Drayton left for the NFL and he had already built a good relationship with coach Tony Alford, Drayton's replacement, while Alford was at Notre Dame. Rutgers will still hold out hope that Walker changes his mind, but the chances are slim.
Leaders: Committed to Ohio State
19
LB
Daelin Hayes
Ann Arbor (Mich.) Skyline
Scouting report: Now up to 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, Hayes runs like a wide receiver and covers like a defensive back. He possesses a rare blend of size, speed and athleticism.
Latest: After looking at new suitors following a move back to southeast Michigan in the fall, Hayes re-solidified his commitment to USC this winter and will enroll early.
Leaders: Committed to USC
20
DE
Nick Bosa
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Scouting report: Bosa, who does not plan to partake in camps this offseason, proved himself in game situations. He is effective as a pass rusher and uses violent hands and quick feet to blow by bigger tackles and terrorize quarterbacks.
Latest: In a lot of ways, it's shocking that Bosa hasn't committed to Ohio State already. His brother, Joey Bosa, has found great success in Columbus and the Buckeyes are coming off of a national title.
Leaders: Ohio State
Way-too-early prediction: Ohio State
