Rivals100 LB makes his pick

Brandywine (Md.) Gwynn Park linebacker Wes Jefferson made it official today. The five-star stud will be playing his college ball at....
"Maryland," said the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder by cell phone a few minutes ago. "I just announced like an hour ago. It came down to the opportunity I have there as well as academics, comfort level and location. Maryland had it all."

Jefferson, the nation's No. 2 inside linebacker, chose the Terps over Miami, Ohio State, Notre Dame and around 50 other offers.
"Coach Friedgen is a great person and I liked all the coaches and the players I met," he said. "I felt at home with them from the first day and I can't wait. I don't know if I'll play as a true freshman or not, but I sure plan on it."
And will Jefferson start working the phones to recruiting other potential Terps?
"Sure will," he said. "A few of them said they'd commit if I did, so I'm going to start calling this week."
