Rivals100 LB cuts list to five

Rivals100 linebacker Jerod Askew has cut his list. The Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith star is down to five schools and has already scheduled one official visit. Who's made the cut for the 6-foot-1, 230-pounder?
"I'm down to five schools, West Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Maryland and South Carolina," he said. "These are my final five."

Askew explained why these schools made the cut.
"West Virginia keeps in contact with me, plus they are recruiting players from the 757. I've been in contact with the coaches and I like Coach Beatty," he said. "Tennessee has a great defense. I have no doubt I could go to the NFL if I went there.
"Alabama is a top team and they are getting top 100 players. I think the future is really bright with that team.
"Maryland is a city environment if that's what I'm looking for. I hear about them from one of my teammates has gone there, Brian Whitmore.
"I like South Carolina because they play the 4-3. That is what we run at Oscar Smith and it should be an easy adjustment."
Has the No. 71 prospect in the nation set any officials?
"I have one set up with West Virginia for September 28th (Marshall)," he said. "I should have the rest figured out in the next week or so."
