Rivals100 LB about to trim list

HOOVER, Ala. -- Rivals100 outside linebacker Kwon Alexander of Oxford (Ala.) isn't anywhere near ready to make a commitment, but he is getting closer to narrowing his list of candidates to five.
"I'd like to do it by the beginning of the season," Alexander told Rivals.com Thursday at the National Select 7 on 7 Championships.

Right now, the 6-foot-2 ½ , 210-pounder, who is rated as the No. 77 player nationally and No. 3 prospect in Alabama, is focusing on 10 schools. They are: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon and Southern California.
One of the 10 - Oregon - already has secured an official visit.
"I'm really trying to trim it down," Alexander said. "It's getting to me a little bit. I'm getting a little stressed out. I think I kind of know which schools I want to go to [on official visits]. I'm definitely going to Oregon. I can't wait to go out and see what it's like [at the school]."
Alexander just attended The Opening, an elite camp, in Oregon. The lengthy trip didn't faze him, he said.
"I liked it out there," Alexander said. "[The flight] was only 4 and a half hours."
Who else will make Alexander's next cut?
He didn't give any hints Thursday. But Alexander did talk about what he's looking for in a school.
"Academics, and the comfort I have there," Alexander said. "I want good people to be around."
According to Alexander, who has more than 40 offers, he will announce his destination on signing day.
For now, he is focused on improving his play before he gets to college.
"I'm trying to work on my man-to-man coverage," he said. "So I can become more involved with the passing game. It's just footwork. It's going good."
