Rivals100 junior has offseason visits in mind

Corione Harris

If Corione Harris possesses fully formed opinions on any of his scholarship offers, he certainly isn’t sharing them. The Rivals100 defensive back keeps that information, if it exists, locked in his head. Then, with more than a year until the class-of-2018 prospect will have to sign a letter of intent, there’s certainly no rush to narrow the list.

He says all 13 scholarship offers he currently holds stand on equal footing. He doesn’t mind discussing which coaching staffs talk to him the most, however.

“Mississippi State, Florida and Kansas are talking to me the most,” Harris said.

Before he gets to far along the road of tabbing favorites or building relationships, Harris will take visits. He doesn’t plan to do much in-season travel, but he has a few destinations in mind for after his junior season’s conclusion.

“I want to take a visit to Kansas and get back up to LSU,” Harris said. “Then, I want to visit Alabama and Florida. Maybe some other schools.”

Kansas, it seems, has done a solid job recruiting Harris, as its standing among SEC programs is impressive given the fact that the Jayhawks failed to win a single game a year ago. That said, KU seems to have the attention of the four-star defensive back.

“From what [former high school teammate and current KU player] Mike Lee tells me, I know Kansas is a good, rising program and that I’d fit in there,” Harris said. “That’s all for now. I really don’t know much else, but I’m gonna visit there.”

Harris, who attends New Orleans’ Landry-Walker High School, is the No. 7 cornerback and the No. 55 overall prospect in the 2018 class.

IN HIS WORDS: “I just need to pick a program I feel comfortable in,” Harris said. “That and the defensive schemes need to fit me. Playing times matters. I want to be on the field no later than my sophomore year.”

RIVALS REACTION: LSU is usually the team to beat for highly regarded in-state prospects. Should Les Miles finish the season entrenched as the program’s head coach, the Tigers will have the inside track to land Harris. If Miles is viewed as unstable in his current role, things will open up to include any number of schools.
