Rivals100 FSU DB commit AJ Lytton talks Jimbo's departure & what comes next

The news that Jimbo Fisher had left Florida State to go to Texas A&M did not surprise many as he had been trending that way since earlier in the week. All of the players committed to the Seminoles have been in touch with the coaching staff, including Rivals100 defensive back AJ Lytton. He and his Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise teammates won the 4A Maryland state championship on Friday night and he spoke afterwards about his commitment status as well as his future plans. See the full interview above.

NOTES...

-Lytton heard about Jimbo Fisher taking the Texas A&M job prior to the 7:30pm kickoff of his game on Friday night. He still wants to go to FSU as of now but also wants to go on visits. "I'm still 100-percent committed to Florida State."

-Lytton will take an official visit to Alabama next weekend. He is excited about meeting Nick Saban, seeing the campus, meeting the players, and finding out what his role would be. Coach Ansley and coach Locksley have been doing a good job of keeping in contact wth Lytton.

-Lytton will sign on Signing Day in February but it sounds like he will make his decision some time in late January.

-Maryland, Penn State, Georgia, and a few others are turning up the heat on Lytton.

-He really wants to visit Alabama and Georgia but he doesn't have a date set for the Georgia visit.

-Lytton expects Maryland to visit him on Tuesday and Florida State on Thursday of this coming week.

RIVALS' REACTION

The bottom line here is that Lytton wants to go to Florida State and as long as Odell Haggins is coaching in Tallahassee, Lytton will more than likely sign with the Seminoles. Alabama has a chance to woo him but the Tide will probably need Florida State to mess up before Lytton seriously considers going somewhere else.
