Rivals100 DT Trevor Trout commits to USC

St. Louis (Mo.) Chaminade defensive tackle Trevor Trout had never visited USC before this weekend, but before a new week could fully start the four-star prospect decided he had found his future home.

Trout returned from an official visit to USC on Sunday and announced at midnight on Monday that he was taking his talents to southern California to play for the Trojans in college.

“Overall I just feel comfortable at that school,” Trout said. “It’s even bigger than the football aspect, I just knew that’s where I want to go.”

According to Trout, USC started to emerge as the team to beat back in mid-September. Shortly after he took an official visit to UCLA, which was his first time ever stepping foot in the state of California. After this weekend’s return visit, Trout knew Los Angeles was where he wanted to continue his football career and pursue an education.

“It’s really liberal, you get to see people from all walks of life and in California is where all the best schools are and post-graduation there are a lot of opportunities in that area,” Trout said.

“Besides the school, Coach (Kenechi) Udeze is what sold me. The track record isn’t even really what got me because he’s a young coach. It was the personal relationship.”

USC foresees Trout being an interior run-stopper on their defensive line, and the combination of athletic and academic opportunity was too good for the top-ranked prospect in Missouri’s 2018 class to pass up.

“They’re a little thin on the defensive line, they are a top 15 program, they always win the Pac-12, are a really good academic school and for my major it is one of the top schools in the world,” Trout said. “So, I feel like there is no losing by going there.”

Trout is looking to pursue mass communication and broadcasting in college, when not pursuing Pac-12 quarterbacks on Saturday afternoons. He becomes the second Rivals100 commitment for USC in the 2018 class and boosts the Trojans into the Top 25 of the team recruiting rankings.
