Rivals100 DT names leaders

Marshville (N.C.) Forest Hills defensive tackle Marque Hall was hoping to have his list narrowed down to less than eight schools by now. However, the 6-foot-5, 305-pounder at least has a top four, with two teams in the lead for his services.
"I still have the same eight schools I like," said the agile big man. "Clemson, North Carolina, NC State, South Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech are on my list. I thought it would be less by now, but its not."

However, Hall is able to separate a few teams from the rest.
"North Carolina and NC State are on top because they're close to home," he said. "Coach Brewer from UNC and coach Portee from NC State are both cool guys. I have a good feel for them."
Two teams are narrowing the gap as well.
"Virginia and Virginia Tech are right after the home-state schools," said Hall, who has been a three-time all-league selection. "I like UVA because it seems like a really nice school and has good academics. Virginia Tech has a nasty defense."
Hall is in no hurry to make a decision, but he knows he'll have to narrow things down to five schools for official visits soon enough.
"I've only been to UNC and NC State so far, so I need to see Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and probably South Carolina for sure," he said. "I hope to make some unofficial visits this August if I can, but I won't make my final decision until February."
And is there a leader between UNC and NC State?
"Not really," he said. "I liked both places and never really followed football much so I don't really have a childhood favorite."
Practice starts for Hall on July 28.
"I'm ready," he said. "I'm down to 295 pounds and feeling as light as ever. I ran a 4.8-second 40-yard dash at UNC this summer and I think I can get quicker."
