The Latest: Myles “Spider” Sims is one of the top players in the Class of 2018 regardless of position and schools from around the country are fighting to get him on campus for a visit this spring before he trims down his list. Count Michigan among the schools that have won the battle. Sims will be in Ann Arbor on Friday and Saturday for a visit and will be joined by both his mother and father. Sims said he expects it to be like a mini-official visit and is looking forward to seeing what the program has to offer up close. Rivals.com caught up with him to talk about the trip.

In His Words: “We thought it was the right time to go now because it gives us a chance to see the campus and see where the interest level is in Michigan. Both my interest in them and their interest in me. Michigan is a school that I have a lot of respect for both as a school and as a program so it’s important to go up there and check them out before I really start narrowing things down. I’ve never been to campus before and I think it’s going to be a good trip.”

On Jim Harbaugh: “I’ve never met him before. From what I’ve heard he’s a great recruiter and with his NFL background he’s different than other coaches. I’m looking forward to getting to talk to him.”

On his potential fit in the Wolverines scheme: “They’ve told me they could use me like a Jabrill Peppers. They like my versatility and they said they could see corner, nickel, safety and me playing all over. I have no problem with that role I just prefer corner as my position.”

On his relationship with recruiter Chris Partridge: “My relationship with him is really good. When you first meet him you wouldn’t even know that he hadn’t always been a college coach. He really knows what he’s doing and what he’s talking about and I like that about him.”

Rivals Reaction: Getting an elite player from the Southeast to visit on his own dime at this time of year shows exactly how big of a player the Wolverines have become in recruiting nationally. Sims clearly is interested in Michigan and now the staff will have a chance to impress both him and his family. It will be interesting to see how the trip goes and if Michigan can be a factor in Sims recruitment going forward.
