Rivals100 defensive back Lewis Cine has captured the attention of college football fans and coaches since transferring into the Dallas area from the northeast just before the spring.

Naturally, he piqued the interest of several top programs that recruit the area, but with three of his official visits scheduled for this month, two of them are going to programs that will take him back up north to see teams that have been involved with his recruitment since very early in the process. The biggest thing he hopes to parse out during June is which gives him the most authentic feeling.

“Trust and loyalty plays the biggest factor for me,” he said. “Every coach is going to tell you what you want to hear to get you: ‘You’re going to play right away, you’re going to make a big impact, we have stuff,’ they’ll tell you that you’re going to make a big impact here or there, but it’s not about what they say, it’s keeping it real with you.

“When they keep it honest, 100-percent, and you’re actually seeing that you’re doing research yourself, that’s important. I’m not the type of person that relies on word-of-mouth, I need to see it myself.”

Those visits kick off this weekend with Penn State, Cine will visit Texas on June 15 and Michigan on June 22. He said that he wants to make sure that he takes all of his officials before making a commitment, and once he’s able to wrap those up, he said that Florida and Georgia are the most likely candidates to host him in the fall.

IN HIS WORDS

On Penn State

“I know that every schools is going to try and bring their A-Game to try and impress me and wow me,” he said. “It’s supposed to be fun and that’s what I’m looking forward to and seeing the campus. They’ve kept strong with me through my moving and they’ve stayed recruiting me with the same kind of energy that they did from the start.”

“I’m real tight with almost everyone on the staff,” he said. “I would say people think they might be my top choice because I did say that before, but they can think what they want.”

On Texas

“Ever since I moved down there, they’ve really recruited me hard and kept in contact with me,” he said. “They’ve come out to see me during spring ball and that shows a lot that they’ve made this effort to get me. I was there for one of their scrimmages and I was blown away with the campus, the education system, the dorms, facility – it all had me like wow.”

On safeties coach Craig Naivar

“He’s a man with a lot of energy and is a player’s coach,” he said. “I like that I have seen he is put a lot of his efforts into recruiting me hard.”

On Michigan

“I’ve always wanted to make a visit to the big house to see the hype behind the stadium, the campus and everything,” he said. “I like that they like to bring pressure on the field and they like physical players. I can see myself playing in that type of system.”

“I’m tight with Coach (Don) Brown but I’ve talked with Coach (Chris) Partridge a couple times too,” he said. “We talk a couple times each week right now.”
