Willie Cooper has four official visits in place, but admits in his mind,
there's only three teams in the hunt.
“At
first, when I was just getting into the recruiting process, Florida State had
the big advantage,” Cooper said. “But I've opened my mind a little bit since
then. All I know now is that I'm going to be staying in Florida.
"I will let it come down to whoever leaves the best
impression on me after I visit Florida State (1/10), Florida (1/24) and Miami
(1/24)."
Cooper (6-2, 190, 4.5) has a visit scheduled with
Oklahoma for this coming weekend, but barring an eye-popping experience with the
Sooners, it's not likely to be anything for than a courtesy call.
The same would apply for anyone who may land a fifth
visit.
"I'm thinking about going to Penn State," he said. "I
want to enjoy the whole recruiting process and take advantage of my visits while
I have the opportunity. It would be nice to see their campus and get to meet
coach (Joe) Paterno, but I don't think I'd end up going to school there."
Cooper, a member of the Rivals100 team and the No. 6
safety prospect in the nation, recorded 10 interceptions in helping lead St.
Augustine to a 12-1 record and the semifinals of the Class 3A playoffs.
He had in-home visits from Florida's Larry Fedora,
Miami's Vernon Hargreaves and Oklahoma's Kevin Wilson this week.
