Rivals100 cornerback talks recruiting

Clarksdale (Miss.) cornerback prospect Charles Mitchell is one of the top prospects in the Magnolia State for the Class of 2008 and one of the top prospects at his position nationally. The pre-evaluation Rivals100 member currently is sitting on two scholarship offers from Southeastern Conference programs and is getting plenty of attention from a number of other potential suitors.
"I got the same two offers from Ole Miss and Mississippi State," Mitchell said. "Nobody else has offered me yet."

Two programs have been by Clarksdale High to check on the 5-foot-11, 187-pounder so far during the spring evaluation period.
"Coaches from Mississippi State and Tennessee have been by there and some more coaches are supposed to come through," he said. "Ole Miss is coming by and my coach told me a lot of coaches said they are coming."
In addition to the Rebels, Vols and Bulldogs, there are other programs that interest Mitchell.
"LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida," Mitchell said. "I really don't know about my leader. I'm not really sure I have one right now."
Mitchell plans to attend several summer camps, but isn't sure of which ones right now.
"My mom and I have to work it out," he said.
One thing Mitchell is certain about is that he wants to play in the SEC.
"The competition is harder and tougher," he said. "That's where the elite players play."
There will be several things that are important to Mitchell when he goes to pick a college program to be a part of.
"I will be looking at playing time and good coaching," he said. "I want people that can teach me the things that I need to know and somewhere I can get to the NFL from. I also want a good school for academics that have good tutor sessions for athletes so I can graduate and get my degree."
There are many reasons why Mitchell feels like he is one of the top prospects in the South for this year's class.
"I think because I make such an impact on the field whether it's offense or defense," he said.
In addition to being a skilled defensive back, Mitchell shined on offense last year totaling 1.151 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
