Rivals100 CB Julian Humphrey to Georgia: 'It's special over there'

Rivals100 cornerback Julian Humphrey has been most of the nation's most sought-after defensive backs in the talent-laden 2022 cycle, which features multiple five-stars at the position and a particularly special group of players within the state of Texas.

Humphrey, a top-60 player in the class and one-time Florida commitment, is now heading to Georgia. The nation's No. 7-ranked cornerback picked the Bulldogs over Texas A&M and LSU in a decision trending in that direction for some time now.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

RIVALS REACTION

Humphrey comes from a family of athletes. His father played for Nevada and his brother at Arizona State, and in addition to his football prowess Humphrey is an accomplished track star. This past spring, he set multiple Houston (Texas) Clear Lake school records in the 100-meter (10.55 seconds); 200-meter (21.17 seconds) and 400-meter (50.89 seconds). This past summer at The Opening, Humphrey clocked a 4.38-second 40 as he ran away with Fastest Man honors.

With size (6-foot, 190 pounds) and speed, Humphrey is excellent coverage and reactive. He can patrol a ton of ground with ease and can make up ground in a hurry. Humphrey also exercises plenty of physicality pressing receivers and defending the middle of the field with some authority. He's a willing tackler and is a pesky defender with a knack for jarring balls loose from time to time.

Humphrey also sees action on offense at receiver, where he makes plays in space as well as in the return game. With his speed, special teams is certainly a quick route to the field in Athens.
