Rivals100 Athlete Volunteers

When the 2002 recruiting season started up there was a player in the state of Louisiana that really hadn’t received the attention he deserved. But, when your name is plastered all over the papers and Internet it doesn’t take long for the major players to come calling.
Shreveport (La.) Evangel athlete Jonathan Wade has ended his search with a final stop in Neyland Stadium. In which he will line up for Mr. Fulmer’s Tennessee Volunteers.

“Yes, I called this morning,” he said. “I talked to Coach Fulmer and he was really excited.” “I talked to Coach Sanders after my practice and he said he was ready for me to catch a lot of touchdowns.”
Now the debate begins for the Louisiana athlete. The coaches at Tennessee are in a major debate over which side of the ball he will eventually play.
“Yeah, when I was up there for the camp both Coach Washington and Coach Slade wanted me pretty bad,” he said. “I really don’t know which position I will play, but I think I would like to play wide receiver.”
Now, how about the coming season at Evangel Christian?
“I am not playing wide receiver this year, but that is fine,” he said. “I will play corner and be ready to get a chance at Tennessee.”
Now the fun doesn’t stop just at the football field for Wade. He is also a stand out in track.
“Yeah, this summer has been really fun,” he said. “I run track and I was able to go to the junior nationals in Hungary. That was real motivating. And, to win the 200 meters was really crazy.
“I will definitely run track in college. The track team was a major part of decision and it helped a lot.”
Well, what else made this decision for you?
“The athletes really blew me away at the camp and the team was very receptive,” he said. “The coaches were really nice. Coach Fulmer is just like a close friend. He is a great guy.”
Last, but not least is it completely over?
“It is completely over. There is no chance that I will reconsider any other teams.”
