LaRon Landry may be down to semifinalists in his recruitment.
"I'm trying to stay open and not put these in any
kind of order or anything, but the top three right now are LSU, Florida and
Auburn and then Colorado," said the
Rivals100 team member. "I'd like
to try and visit those for sure, if I can, and then wait and see who comes
out on top."
Landry (6-3, 185, 4.4) said he's received calls from
LSU, Colorado, USC, Nebraska, Florida, Auburn, Notre Dame, Miami and
Tennessee -- among others -- in the last two weeks. "I'm listening to them
all, keeping an open mind just in case," he noted.
Here's how he broke down the favorites, all of which
are projecting him as a free safety:
n LSU - "LSU's
basically my hometown. I've always liked their program, and they've got a
nice coaching staff. Coach (Lance) Thompson, he recruited my brother to
Georgia Tech, so we know him real well. We've got a good relationship. I
think I could fit in real good and bond with coach (Nick) Saban as well.
He's always been real good working with defensive backs. Everything's good
about them. I may go on an unofficial down there next week when they play
South Carolina."
n Florida - "The
recruiting coach is really nice. I've enjoyed the way he talks. He seems to
really believe I can come in and be a big factor next year as a freshman.
That's saying a lot for a program like Florida. It's an exciting place to
play."
n Auburn - "During the
spring, their recruiting coach was probably the most active with me. They've
stayed with me for a long time, and I like that. They make me really feel
like I'm important for their program."
n Colorado - "That's a
place that would be different. But I hear a lot of good things about it.
Their recruiting coach is from Louisiana, so we knew a little bit about him.
I'm going to try to visit if I can. It's a long way away, but I'm going to
try to make it. I'd like to find out what they're all about."
