The Rivals team of analysts have debates all the time about five-star rankings and which players should be under consideration. Wide receiver has been a hot topic recently, especially in rankings meetings and today we ask them which prospect at that position should be considered for the highest ranking possible:

ROB CASSIDY, Florida analyst

I have long been a fan of wide receiver Gee Scott. His quickness, hands and acceleration give him five-star potential. He's been great everywhere I've seen him and shines against top flight competition. If it were up to me, he'd be a five-star.

ADAM FRIEDMAN, Mid-Atlantic analyst

This is an outstanding receiver class with a number of future stars at the top of the group. Of the players that aren't currently five-stars, Ohio State commits Gee Scott and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are two that I have my eye on. Scott has a ton of physical talent but I want to see more consistency from him against elite competition. On the flip side, Smith has consistently played at a high level but he isn't the most gifted prospect.

ADAM GORNEY, West and national analyst

Gee Scott is a physical specimen and if he dominates at the all-star events, then he’s going to further be in the five-star discussion but Jaxon Smith-Njigba had such an outstanding senior season after a great summer that it’s hard to keep him away from that five-star ranking. Every opponent knew the ball was coming his way and he still caught 71 passes for 1,523 yards and 24 touchdowns. He’s also going to Ohio State and will assuredly get a lot of opportunities to make plays. If there’s only one receiver under five-star consideration right now, he’d get my vote.

JOSH HELMHOLDT, Midwest analyst

I feel like Jaxon Smith-Njigba tends to get overlooked because he is part of this ridiculously good class of wide receivers for Ohio State, but if I had to put my money on the line about which of these three Rivals100 receiver commits for Ohio State will have the best career, I'm not so sure I wouldn't pick Smith-Njigba. He has that knack for always finding a way to get open.

SAM SPIEGELMAN, Texas and Louisiana analyst

Jaxon Smith-Njigba has had a stellar senior season and rewrote the record books in the process. The future Buckeye has shown an impressive ability to make contested catches with a freakish catch radius. He’s been dynamic after the catch and in red-zone opportunities. He’s certainly going to climb the rankings in the state and should be mentioned in the five-star discussion heading into San Antonio for the All-American Bowl.

WOODY WOMMACK, Southeast analyst

There's no one receiver outside of the five-star rankings that I'm particularly enamored with, but I am curious to see how guys like Arian Smith and Xzavier Henderson do at the all-star events. They are a bit undervalued and I wouldn't be shocked to see either make a nice jump over the next few sets of rankings updates.
