SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Bellflower St. John Bosco remained undefeated Friday

night by thumping Santa Ana Mater Dei, 42-21, in a game that was not even that
close. Here is some news, notes and takeaways from the Braves' latest blowout
victory.
I was impressed with...
Sean McGrew dominated again.
The pint-sized Washington commit is unstoppable in space and
surprisingly tough and difficult to bring down running between the tackles. He
hides behind offensive linemen, bounces off tackles and then explodes for big
gains, which the four-star did all night against Mater Dei.
McGrew, rated as the sixth-best all-purpose back with a chance to move even
higher, scored on an 81-yard run down the sideline and later on a 56-yard
scamper where he shed at least two tackles and then pulled away from multiple
defenders.
On Bosco's first touchdown, McGrew set it up with a 45-yard run down the
sideline. He could have also had a big gainer on a wheel route but the Bosco
quarterback missed him wide open.
Wyatt Davis is incredibly nice and friendly off the field. When it's
game, time it's a completely different story.
The 2017 four-star is an offensive guard but plays tackle in Bosco's offense and
does a really nice job. Davis, rated as the second-best offensive guard and No.
27 overall in the junior class, blocks after the whistle, handles speed off the
edge pretty well and is just tough and strong all game.
It is almost certain Davis will move inside when he gets to college and that
should be fine because he's not a finesse player, Davis likes to get after it.
I was surprised by...
The Bosco receivers are not top-end recruits but the Braves have a handful of
talented players who could make FBS offenses really happy.
Devin Fleming had a beautiful catch and run in the second half where he
dodged multiple defenders for a big gain and then Jared Harrell,
Anselem Umeh and 2017 Kristian Gilbert are all major contributors in the
high-tempo Bosco offense.
Traveon Beck does not have excellent size but the three-star
California commit is surprisingly physical and did an excellent job all
night knocking away would-be completions or ripping the ball away from
receivers.
Beck did a nice job containing 2017 four-star Osiris St. Brown (who scored two late touchdowns) as he jammed him at the line or gave
him some space and then broke on the ball well to break up some passes.
Other notes...
Washington
is the latest offer for Davis and he said he'll definitely give the Huskies a
look especially after they defeated USC at the Coliseum in their latest
game.
As for his interest in USC, the 2017 four-star said he's certain the Trojans
will hire a big-time coach and he remains interested in them. LSU is
showing a whole lot more interest and Davis said he is looking to visit Baton
Notre DameClick Rouge at some point. Here to view this Link. had been showing some interest in McGrew (and with teammate D.J. MorganClick Rouge at some point. Here to view this Link. committed there it was a possibility he would look at the Irish) but
the four-star all-purpose back said he's shut down his recruitment and is 100
percent committed to Washington.
