SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas has been around for 79 years, but Saturday's edition set a record for the most combined points scored. The final was 54-39, with Oklahoma quarterback commit Austin Kendall and Alabama running back commit B.J. Emmons leading the North Carolina squad to victory. The high scoring shootout featured plenty of notable moments for both teams. Here's a rundown of what caught our eye.

I was impressed with..
Clemson is known for recruiting some of the best wide receivers in the country and Greenville (N.C.) Rose WR Cornell Powell.looks like he could be the next big playmaker for the Tigers. Powell finished the game with 264 all-purpose yards, which included a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown and a 27-yard touchdown catch. Powell missed out on MVP honors, but was the game's most explosive player by far.
I was surprised by...
Asheville (N.C.) A.C. Reynolds RB Rico Dowdle's recruiting interest has skyrocketed recently and his stock will only continue to go up after an impressive Shrine Bowl game. He showed his versatility, carrying the ball three times for 19 yards and a touchdown while also leading the North Carolina team with in receptions with five. He finished the game with 67 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns and looks like the type of guy who can be a versatile offensive weapon in college.

He finished the game with 89 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and also caught one pass for 15 yards. Here to view this Link. as he was clearly out shined by Emmons in the head-to-head match up. He finished the game 55 yards on 14 carries and also had three catches for 11 yards, but he fumbled twice and never really showed the type of explosiveness that helped him move up in the most recent Rivals rankings. Feaster is playing in the Army All-American Game next month, but against stiffer competition it will be an uphill battle for him to show he belongs in the conversation for the top overall running back spot in the country.
