I WAS IMPRESSED BY...

The three-star dual-threat quarterback was trailing in points after the first round but he delivered in the finals. George did a great job throwing on the run, which could be his best attribute, and he also did a great job tossing the deep ball. The wind and cold were definite challenges but, throughout the event, George did a great job accurately throwing the ball, hitting targets, moving quickly through the drills and zipping it through the gusty winds.

Martin is listed as an athlete but he clearly could play quarterback at Texas Tech, where he’s committed, and be a good one. The three-star is mobile, throws well on the run, does an excellent job having the ball pop off his hand and it gets out quickly. The Cibolo (Texas) Steele standout can sit in the pocket and deliver passes to the left, right and center but seems at his best on the move.

The La Canada (Calif.) St. Francis three-star quarterback had an advantage on the competition since he went through last weekend’s Rivals QB Challenge in Southern California and Bonds didn’t squander the opportunity. Bonds was the points leader heading into the final round because he did everything well. The three-star consistently hit targets, threw well in the wind, spun it better than most quarterbacks and was really steady and reliable all day.

I WAS SURPRISED BY...

The wind was bad at times and the temperatures dipped into the 30s and yet Mordecai still fired the ball all over the field and blazed it to the targets. The Waco (Texas) Midway prospect has a tremendously strong arm but it’s not like he’s inaccurate by firing it all over the place. Instead, Mordecai can put zip on it when needed but -- most importantly -- he’s also putting it right where it needs to be.

The Dallas Jesuit quarterback is definitely a name to remember in the 2018 class. Towns has excellent size, throws a beautiful ball and looks like he could be a big-time player. The 2018 prospect can zip it in there when needed and also did a good job running and throwing as he showed good balance in everything he did. He looks most comfortable sitting in the pocket and delivering the ball and that’s what he did all day.

Gomez has a cannon. Maybe more than any 2018 prospect at the camp, the Mercedes, Texas, prospect spun the ball in the wind and nothing wobbled on him. It almost seemed like he was unaffected by the elements which is obviously a positive. He’s not the tallest quarterback in the world and that could be an issue for high-level offers but Gomez has a great arm, he does a nice job throwing on the run and the ball gets to the target fast.
