The 2021 rankings have already gone through some major changes, but it’s still early for that recruiting cycle. Still, there are some top prospects that sit just outside the top 10 that could make a move into that group over the offseason. Recruiting analysts Adam Friedman, Adam Gorney and Sam Spiegelman look at three players who could make an argument for being in the top 10 nationally:

FRIEDMAN'S VIEW: Kyle McCord

McCord is an elite passer with plenty of arm strength, size, and good mechanics. He does a good job reading defenses and doesn’t have a hard time finding the open receiver. A minor knee injury has kept McCord out for the last couple weeks, but he still put together a stellar season. His decisions with the ball kept getting better and that should only improve with more experience against elite competition. Just outside the top 10 right now, it isn’t a stretch to think he could see himself inside the top 10 or higher down the road.

GORNEY'S VIEW: Sam Huard

There is a quarterback in college football who’s a lefty, who’s a great leader, who can make all the throws and who hardly ever makes a mistake. His name is Tua Tagovailoa. Well, Huard has all those same qualities except he might even be more accurate because the Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic quarterback almost never misses.

If there is one question about Huard it’s that he needs to develop more physically but that will come with time. Everything else is outstanding as he put up 4,168 passing yards with 56 touchdowns and 11 picks in his junior season. He’s a quiet leader, cerebral and he has pinpoint accuracy. I like a whole lot about the Washington commit and Huard can easily enter the five-star discussion over the next recruiting cycle.

SPIEGELMAN'S VIEW: Landon Jackson

Jackson is a long, exceptionally explosive edge-rusher with blazing 4.5 speed and unique abilities in the front seven. He's got the size, the twitch and is a difference-maker for his team. The more I see him, the more I like him, and another dominant campaign could put him inside the top 10.
