Rivals Most Wanted: Holmes, Zabie, Asiedu

Each week, Rivals.com looks at three players who saw their offer list lengthen considerably over a seven-day stretch. This week's group includes two 2017 risers and a 2018 defensive end with a rapidly growing offer list.

This week’s offers: UCLA, Michigan, Maryland

Status report: Holmes, who is one of a handful of 2017 Cheshire Academy recruits who have been gaining recruiting momentum, has seen his recruiting process go national with new offers from the Bruins, Wolverines and Terps this week. He mentioned that he has worked out in front of numerous coaches recently, specifically naming Notre Dame and Alabama, and hopes to receive more good news soon. Holmes is not claiming any current favorites, but plans to trim his list of schools down by the end of May and is still looking to make a final decision during the summer. One school to keep an eye on is Ohio State, which is Holmes’ “favorite team." While the Buckeyes are currently showing minimal interest, an offer would drastically change the outlook of Holmes’ process.

In his words: “It's definitely a great feeling, although it's very humbling to know that my hard work is paying off throughout this process. I just try to make sure that I'm staying levelheaded and continue to be blessed and grateful for the opportunities that I am beginning to gain. I wouldn't say I'm surprised because I've always had this vision for me and I've seen this path that I'm taking for myself since I was a little kid, but where I am right now in the process I would say is astounding.”

Visit plans: Holmes’ most recent visits were to Tennessee and Syracuse. Next should be summer visits to Penn State, UCLA, Miami and a return trip to Knoxville, even though none have yet to be scheduled.

This week’s offers: USC, Arkansas, Colorado

Status report: Zabie added three more important offers from Power Five conference schools last week as his overall total continues to mount. He mentioned that the flow of college coaches into Westlake has been consistent this spring, so additional offers are very possible. The USC offer may prove to be a big one, as the Trojans were called a “dream school," while he also mentioned Georgia, Notre Dame and UCLA were three other schools he has followed. None of these three have offered, so if any pull the trigger they will likely become a major player. Without taking any recent visits and with none scheduled for the near future, look for a later decision from Zabie.

In his words: “It feels great to have offers from schools around the country like USC. It's been one of my dream schools since I was a little boy, so it's awesome for me to have the opportunity to go there. Arkansas is a big offer to me because it's the SEC, which is arguably the best conference in college football, and they had some success, so it's great to see a school like that extend the offer.”

Visit plans: Zabie has not taken any recent visit and does not have any planned at this time as he has decided to focus on spring football for the time being. His plan right now is to see if any additional offers come his way and then to formulate a plan for the summer.

This week’s offers: North Carolina, West Virginia, Syracuse, Temple

Status report: Asiedu has seen his list of offers explode recently and that continued during the last week with four new additions. Aside from all of the schools which have already offered, he also believes Georgia, Florida State and Alabama may be close to pulling the trigger. Since he mentioned that he has followed both the Crimson Tide and Seminoles in recent years, an offer from either of these schools would be significant. While the offers may be piling up, don’t expect an early decision for Asiedu as he is currently hoping to wait out his process until his National Signing Day.

In his words: “It feels great. The schools see that I can really play and that I have a lot of potential. I'm kind of surprised, but I've been really working hard this spring and it's paying off.”

Visit plans: Asiedu’s most recent visits were to Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia. In June, he has trips scheduled to Alabama, Clemson and South Carolina, but he has no plans to attend any summer camps this year.
