MORE: Wednesday practice updates | Full coverage | Offensive roster | Defensive roster

LAKE BUNA VISTA, Fla. - Preparation for the Under Armour All-America Game began in earnest on Wednesday as both teams went through their first practice of the week. Below is a look at the 12 best performers from the day's action.

Wilson was on the attack in this week's first practice. He dominated during the one-on-one sessions and was very active during the team drills. Wilson knocked down passes and made a lot of plays in the backfield. Current Houston freshman star defensive tackle defensive tackle Ed Oliver had a huge showing at least year's Under Armour All-America Game and Wilson could be on the same trajectory. Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Florida State and South Florida made it in Wilson's top five.

Yeast was all over the field on Wednesday as a wide receiver. He made catches down the field, over the middle and toward the sideline leaving defensive backs in the dust. Only a three-star, Yeast looks like a two-way standout that could play anywhere on the field. Louisville is going to be able use Yeast in all phases of the game.

Team Armour's offensive tackles are massive and Leatherwood took most of the reps at left tackle on Wednesday. He only lost one rep during one-on-ones when his foot slipped but was otherwise dominant out on his island. When he gets to Alabama Leatherwood could play on the left or right side of the line depending on where Nick Saban wants to put Jonah Williams after Cameron Robinson leaves for the NFL.

Myles Garrett, Josh Sweat and Josh Kaindoh. All three of them are long edge rushers that make their living getting after quarterbacks. Kaindoh was so explosive off the line on Wednesday. Every offensive lineman he faced tried to take away the outside route but nearly all of them failed. Kaindoh playing with Sweat and Brian Burns at Florida State will be a scary situation for opposing quarterbacks and offensive linemen.

Ray didn't do many of the camps in the offseason but had a very good season and made a ton of plays at practice on Wednesday. He is a bit longer and quicker than 2016 Rivals100 defensive lineman McTelvin Agim but not as scheme versatile. Florida, Michigan, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, LSU and Tennessee are all in the conversation for Ray but he is considered an Alabama lean at this point.

Wills might be the most technically sound offensive lineman at the Under Armour All-America Game. He could play tackle or guard at Alabama but took reps at both tackle spots on Wednesday. Wills has the length and quickness to play tackle but the build and strength to be a very effective guard. He took the best shots that Ray and Kaindoh had to offer.

Michigan has been looking for their next outside pass rusher and Vilain looks to be that guy. Offensive linemen had a tough time blocking him because he was so quick at the snap, is long and played with good leverage. That length helped Vilain make plays people didn't expect him to make and he was able to get into the backfield more than a few times.

Ford has been working to earn more respect for a long time and he came out firing on Wednesday with an interception in the first period of team drills. His length and range made quarterbacks look to other areas when Ford was in center field. Pittsburgh has held his commitment for a long time. Michigan has been pushing for a visit but it doesn't sound likely.

Shelvin was a people-mover in the middle of the defense and offensive linemen could not get any sort of push on him. He plays with great leverage and has an incredibly strong lower body that his forward momentum just carried him into the backfield. Shelvin, a LSU commit, is like a bigger former Notre Dame defensive lineman Louis Nix.

One of the biggest surprises of the first day of practice was the play of Penn State offensive lineman commit CJ Thorpe. He isn't one of the biggest offensive linemen but he was one of the toughest and strongest. Thorpe's technique and aggressiveness helped him go toe-to-toe with Marvin Wilson on more than one occasion.

The group of quarterbacks at the Under Armour All-America Game isn't as strong as previous year but Brennan opened some eyes on Wednesday. He zipped some passes into small windows and quickly developed a good sense of timing with his receivers. Brennan is going to stick with his LSU commitment.

Calloway had a good day at cornerback. He knocked down a couple passes and had an interception early in the one-on-one session. Arkansas, Texas and Ole Miss are vying for his services with a commitment coming close to Signing Day.
