Lonnie Galloway, West Virginia
Buzz: The West Virginia Mountaineers finished in the top half of the league when it comes to the recruiting ranks thanks in large part to Galloway, who took the lead on two of the three four-star prospects West Virginia signed. He took the lead for Rivals250 quarterback William Crest and was able to get the job done early in the process. He was also responsible for securing the signature of four-star running back Donte Thomas-Williams, who chose the Mountaineers over several options on Signing Day. Throw in three-star Florida receivers Lamar Parker and Jacob McCrary, three-star defensive back Daejuan Funderburk out of Washington, D.C., and it was quite an impressive haul.
Cale Gundy, Oklahoma
Buzz: Who was responsible for landing Oklahoma's biggest recruit of the 2014 class? Cale Gundy, that's who, and for his efforts to secure five-star running back Joe Mixon out of California, he now finds himself among the Big 12's finest recruiters. It does not hurt that he also played a big part in securing the services of Rivals250 running back Samaje Perine, who lives just 20 minutes away from the University of Texas. The haul at running back is one of the best in the country and helped the Sooners rake in the top class in the Big 12.
Brian Jean-Marie, Texas
Buzz: The Longhorn staff had to hit the ground running in January to keep as much of the 2014 recruiting class intact and add a few pieces to the puzzle. Jean-Marie was charged with coordinating the efforts of Charlie Strong's staff. He was also instrumental in securing two key late additions. After the de-commitments of Zaycoven Henderson, Trey Lealaimatafao and Courtney Garnett, Texas was left without any defensive tackles in the class. Jean-Marie led the way for as the Longhorns were able to gain the signature of out-of-state standout defensive tackles Chris Nelson and Poona Ford.
Jeff Lebby, Baylor
Buzz: Baylor's solid recruiting year took more than a few big-time efforts, and Lebby's performance did not go unnoticed. He led the way for three-star running back Terence Williams out of Ennis (Texas). He jumped on the big back early and was able to secure his commitment before several other top programs jumped on board. He also took the lead for Coppell (Texas) three-star tight end Blake Mahon, who also saw his stock rise after committing to the Bears. On the offensive line, he was responsible for three signatures with Patrick Lawrence and Josh Pelzel two of his biggest recruits.
Reggie Mitchell, Kansas
Buzz: The Jayhawks may have finished down the list in the Big 12 recruiting ranks, but Mitchell was among the conference's finest. Mitchell was responsible for keeping four-star running back Traevohn Wrench at home in the state of Kansas, and went to Illinois for Kyron Watson. Then he put in some great work in the Dallas-area and was able to secure the services of some solid talents. He jumped on three-star defensive tackle Lay'Trion Jones. He secured the talents of three-star receiver Derrick Neal. Then he finished by snagging versatile three-star athlete Corey Avery.
Eric Morris, Texas Tech
Buzz: In his first full year in Lubbock, Morris was able to secure the talents of several key members of the Red Raider recruiting class. He locked up three-star receivers Ian Sadler, Cameron Batson, and Devin Lauderdale, and also played a big role in securing commitments and signatures from three-star safeties Jah'shawn Johnson and Derrick Dixon. Then he hit Central Texas, where he was able to haul in offensive linemen Justin Murphy and Robert Castaneda. Morris played a big part in recruiting seven of the Red Raiders' 25 signees, and all are at positions of need.
Glenn Spencer, Oklahoma State
Buzz: Oklahoma State needed linebackers, so Spencer went out and found some of the nation's best. He zeroed in on Broken Arrow (Okla.) Rivals250 linebacker Gyasi Akem, and he was able to beat out the likes of Baylor and Oklahoma for his services. He dipped into Houston for three-star standouts Josh Mabin and Justin Phillips. He went to Georgia to grab Kirk Tucker after Tucker was denied admission to Stanford and he hit the junior college ranks for standout linebackers D'Nerius Antoine and Devante Averette. It was an impressive haul for the Cowboys and should add some punch to a stout defense.
Mike Stoops, Oklahoma
Buzz: Last year's Big 12 recruiter of the year finds himself firmly planted on the 2014 list with another strong haul for the Sooners. He was able to keep Jenks (Okla.) Rivals100 safety Steven Parker at home and he was able to go to California and beat out the likes of Notre Dame and UCLA for the services of Rivals100 athlete Michiah Quick. Stoops also spearheaded efforts to land Marcus Green and Vontre McQuinnie out of Texas powerhouse programs Cedar Hill and DeSoto, and he went into Mississippi to grab three-star cornerback Tito Windham.
Darrell Wyatt, Texas
Buzz: While Wyatt was at Texas, he made his presence known around the state and showed why he has been known for his recruiting prowess over the years. Before parting ways with the Longhorn program, he was able to secure a strong wide receiver class. He went out west, he hit hard in Houston, he found luck in Dallas, and he landed one of the best in east Texas. The Longhorns signed his top two targets when Rivals250 standouts Lorenzo Joe and Armanti Foreman inked with the Longhorns. He was instrumental in grabbing three-stars Roderick Bernard and Dorian Leonard and also put in some work with quarterback Jerrod Heard.
