It was a strange season in the Big 12 in 2004, as the conference's South Division had all of the league's top teams. A look at the Rivals.com 2005 Preseason All-Big 12 team shows that 2005 could provide more of the same.
Of the 54 players selected to the first or second team, 35 were from South Division teams. Additionally, only six of the 27 players chosen for the first team were from North Division squads.
It's also believed that this could be the year that Texas ends Oklahoma's reign as conference champion, and the Longhorns led the way with 11 preseason all-conference selections. The Sooners followed with seven players, while Texas A&M placed six players on the team but only one on the first team.
