Likely said, "I grew up a FSU fan. They were my favorite team as a kid. I watched Tony Carter do well and I always liked them."
When asked if the news of defensive coordinator and secondary coach Mark Stoops leaving to take over as head coach of Kentucky would be a factor in his decision?
The four-star defender stated, "When he left it was kind of surprising. I didn't know it was going to happen, but you just move on. I have a good relationship with Coach (Lawrence) Dawsey."
The Terps have been recruiting him the hardest of the three and he recently hosted Brian Stewart and head coach Randy Edsall for an in-home visit.
He remarked, "I have a good relationship with my area recruiter coach Powell and Coach Stewart. All of the coaches are nice. They are the type of coaches that you want to do well on the field, but they want you to succeed outside of football."
The recent move to the Big 10 conference is something Likely believes is a good thing.
"Playing in the Big 10 gives you more exposure. You get to play teams like Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State all the time. They are great teams," noted Likely.
LSU has stood out to Likely since he visited last summer. He draws comparisons to former Tiger defensive back Tyrann Mathieu because both athletes are considered undersized to play in the secondary for a SEC powerhouse program.
"I can relate to guys like him. LSU has such a good environment to go with a great coaching staff," said Likely.
The 2011 Florida Gatorade Player of the Year recipient is finished with school and will graduate early. He will be a mid-year enrollee at the school of his choice.
