MORE RIVAL VIEWS: Who has the most to prove at the Senior Bowl?

Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney don’t always see eye to eye. In this edition of Rival Views, the two debate which underclassman could help his stock most before the NFL Draft?

FARRELL'S VIEW: TEXAS A&M'S WR CHRISTIAN KIRK

There are many candidates here, but I’ll go with Texas A&M's Christian Kirk. It’s not a loaded year at wide receiver and Kirk could help himself greatly with some good times at the NFL Combine and his pro day. As a shorter wide receiver, he’ll need to show off his speed and quickness as well as his ball skills if he wants to land in the first round.

Calvin Ridley, Courtland Sutton and some other wide receivers who are high on draft boards, but you could make the argument that Kirk is the highest-ranked smaller receiver and he can really help his stock with a good few months.

Auburn cornerback Carlton Davis, Florida State safety Derwin James, Texas offensive lineman Connor Williams and many others could be in this category, but I’ll go with Kirk as he tries to run a sub 4.4.

GORNEY'S VIEW: LSU RB DERRIUS GUICE

After Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, Derrius Guice is the best running back available in this draft and the separation between Barkley and Guice might not be that glaring. For ESPN’s Mel Kiper to not have Guice in the first round of his mock draft is short-sighted because he’s a phenomenal running back who was either overshadowed at times in his career or dealing with a nagging injury this year.

Let’s not forget: When Leonard Fournette was hobbled with an ankle injury in 2016, Guice had a breakout year and led the SEC in rushing with 1,387 yards. He was banged up throughout this year and still finished with 1,251 yards and 11 touchdowns with a new offensive coordinator in Matt Canada.

I understand running back value comes in the later rounds and there is no rush to take that position group off the board - especially in a year where it’s not exactly loaded - but Guice could be really special in the NFL and shoot up draft boards with a good showing at pro day and the combine.

There was a lot of chatter that Guice could even be more special than Fournette - and the latter had a phenomenal rookie season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Guice should not be drafted before Barkley, but I really think he has the special ability to be taken in the mid-first round and he could have a hugely successful NFL career. If he drops to the second round like some predict, Guice would be an absolute steal.
