Rison re-opens his recruitment

When Ann Arbor (Mich.) Skyline four-star class of 2017 wide receiver Hunter Rison committed to Michigan State this past June, it fulfilled what many recruiting observers expected once he arose on the recruiting scene. After all, Rison's father is Spartan great Andre Rison and it made sense that his son would follow in those footsteps. On Friday, however, Rison announced he was stepping away from that commitment for the time being.

WHAT'S NEXT? Rison currently holds six offers, including his most recent which came from UCLA earlier this week. He attended a camp at Alabama in July which yielded an offer from the Crimson Tide and said Friday evening that he will be going "back down to Tuscaloosa again for sure."
IN HIS WORDS: "My interest (in Michigan State) won't be going anywhere."
RIVALS' REACTION: Rison continued to pick up offers following his June commitment to Michigan State and he was already planning to take additional visits. Doing so while still being committed to Michigan State, though, likely was not the ideal situation for either party. The relationships, the chance to be a legacy for the Spartans and the proximity to home still factor in here, though, and although Rison is no longer committed, Michigan State remains a strong contender. Alabama is the school that has seemed to pique his interest most after Michigan State. He played his first two seasons in Arizona and has family there, so look out for Arizona State, which offered last spring, as well.
