Rising WR catching on

One wide receiver prospect who has been impressive at every camp that Pac10Recruiting has seen him at is Joe Cowan (6-4, 195, 4.43) from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco.
“My favorite colleges change from time-to-time,” Cowan said.

When you are being recruited by the likes of Washington, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, WSU, Arizona, Michigan and Notre Dame it is understandable that your favorite school could change from “time-to-time.”
“I want to major in business so I’m looking for a school with a good business school,” Cowan said. “I will also choose a school in an area that I want to live.”
Cowan was very impressive at the UCLA one-day camp last June. He displayed outstanding body control and the speed to beat opponents deep.
Cowan was awesome last season when he caught 37 passes for 917 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 24.8 yards per grab. His performance saw him selected team co-MVP with Derrick Williams. Only one other underclassman ever won the coveted MVP award in the 60 years the school has been in existence. Cowan was also all-league and all-area his junior season.
What will Cowan do for an encore? Well St. John Bosco head coach Kiki Mendoza thinks it’s going to be good. In an earlier interview with Pac10Recruiting Mendoza said, “Joe is a tremendous athlete. He’s really coming into his own as an athlete.”
Cowan will play some free safety his senior season for Bosco when the situation calls for it and also return punts and kicks.
Cowan is the son of former Washington Husky QB Tim Cowan. Cowan’s dad Tim led UDub to a Rose Bowl and Fiesta Bowl during his time as a starter. The younger Cowan has camped with the Huskies for the last three years and the Huskies have offered Cowan a scholarship.
There may be another Cowan to keep your eyes on. Cowan has a younger brother who could also turn into something special. Younger brother Patrick Cowan (6-4, 195, 4.9) could be Bosco’s starting quarterback this fall. Patrick also looked pretty good at the UCLA three-day camp last June.
Keep your eyes on the Cowan brothers they could be an interesting one-two punch for Bosco in 2002.
